Instructor: PHIL 25 – Methods of Reasoning
This course will be offered in the Summer semester (June 23 – October 4, 2025). It introduces students to fundamental principles of logical thinking and argumentation. The course covers deductive and inductive reasoning, common logical fallacies, and strategies for evaluating and constructing strong arguments. Emphasizing critical thinking, it helps students develop analytical skills applicable across disciplines.The instructor’s responsibilities include designing and delivering the course, developing the syllabus, preparing and conducting lectures, leading discussions, and facilitating student learning. They will assess student performance through assignments, exams, and projects while providing feedback and guidance. The instructor also mentors students, supports their academic growth, and adapts teaching methods to enhance engagement and understanding.

Students will examine the social construction of race and ethnicity, with emphasis on the complex ways in which race and ethnicity have operated within American politics and culture.
